For a third year, HOME, (Helping Others Make and Effort) has received a Walt Disney World Helping Kids Shine Grant! During a visit to the HOME campus on Monday, May 16, Mickey Mouse and Disney Ambassador Norman Vossschulte presented Center for Drug-Free Living and HOME Board Member, Sam Luper, with the prestigious golden Mousecar statuette and a $25,000 check for the children's enrichment program! The enrichment program works with children of HOME residents providing after-school and weekend activities including tutoring and life skills education.
On hand to greet Mickey and the Disney team were Dick Jacobs, President and CEO of The Center for Drug-Free Living, Cara Eule, HOME Program Director, Mary Downey, HOME Program Manager and Curtis Chambliss, HOME Case Manager.
Helping Kids Shine Grants is the premier charitable giving program for the Walt Disney World Resort and provides funding for organizations or agency programs that focus on four specific ways of helping children: connecting with adults, constructive use of free time, character development, and compassion. The grant program recognizes and reward organizations that improve the lives of local children. By May 23, Disney will give more than $1.2 million in Disney Helping Kids Shine Grants throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Polk counties.
The Center for Drug-Free living and the entire HOME Team would like to thank Walt Disney World for their support!
