In the years since The Center’s inception in 1971, the company has remained at the forefront of efforts to understand and address the individual, family, school, and community risk and protective factors that influence the incidence and severity of substance abuse in our community.

Since then, the Center has gained the respect and support of governing bodies and influential entities, i.e. the Orange, Brevard and Osceola County School Boards, the Orlando Mayor and City Commission, the Orange County Chairman and the Board of County Commissioners, the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners, the Brevard County Board of County Commissioners the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, the Florida Alcohol and Drug Abuse Association (FADAA), members of the Central Florida Legislative Delegation, and the Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy. These organizations and individuals frequently consult The Center for guidance and education in the field of substance abuse prevention and treatment and the company has been instrumental in helping to bring about changes in public policy, funding, and funding equity related to substance use disorders.

Over the years, the agency has expanded in response to the needs of families with children, the elderly, the homeless, the mentally ill, and people with alcohol and other drug problems. As a non-profit corporation, we currently operate over 30 sites that provide a comprehensive spectrum of addiction recovery and health services through our residential, outpatient, outreach and community education programs. With 617 staff and a $28.7 million budget, we serve nearly 15,000 individuals through prevention and treatment programs annually regardless of age, sex, creed, race, sexual orientation, disability, or ability to pay.
